What You'll Do
Job Description As an AU Tax Accountant, you will prepare financial statements, complete statutory lodgments, manage reconciliations, support client onboarding, and handle Australian tax compliance across various entity types. You'll collaborate with Australian teams to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant outputs while contributing to ongoing improvements in workflow and documentation. Your Daily Tasks Accounting & Compliance Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with Australian accounting standards. Complete BAS, IAS, and other statutory lodgements for Australian clients. Assist in the preparation of income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships. Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations. Bookkeeping & Reconciliations Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations. Maintain accurate records of financial transactions using cloud-based accounting software (Xero, MYOB, etc.). Prepare year-end journals such as depreciation as required. Proactively identify reconciliation/posting issues and seek help to resolve them. Client Engagement & Support Liaise with Australian team members to clarify client queries and deliver accurate outcomes. Assist in onboarding new clients and setting up accounting systems. Workflow & Systems Use MYOB AE Practice Manager and FYI Docs Document and Task Management to manage tasks and document workflows. Follow firm procedures for job management, time tracking, and document storage. Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes and documentation. Work with the Client Director and team to ensure client work is completed within allocated timeframes. Review & Quality Control Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data before submission to senior accountants or directors. Professional Development Stay updated with changes in Australian tax laws and accounting standards. Participate in training sessions and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team. Health, Safety, and Environment Stay attentive to safety and environmental issues and never overlook potential risks. People and Leadership Demonstrate consistent and visible support for the company's Vision and Values. Build effective and collaborative working relationships with all team members. Set goals through performance and development discussions and deliver on agreed plans. Identify and implement agreed process improvements within scope of role or as directed. Comply with all company policies and procedures. Undertake other duties as reasonably directed by your team leader.
What We're Looking For
The Qualifications We Seek Degree-qualified Accountant (CA or CPA; or currently working towards) 3-5 years of experience in an Australian-based accounting firm Hands-on Australian tax accounting experience with strong knowledge of AU tax law Experience using Xero and/or MYOB (highly desirable) Strong written and verbal English communication skills Ability to work effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels Excellent problem-solving and sound judgment, including knowing when to escalate issues High attention to detail with a proactive, reliable, and professional approach Friendly, flexible, and able to use initiative
