Mission

The organization’s primary objective is to empower women and young people to live healthy reproductive lives in Palawan, Philippines. We improve women’s reproductive health and decrease the number of unplanned pregnancies and HIV incidence by providing sexuality health education and access to modern contraceptives through our clinical services program. Our activities are guided by the international human rights framework, which includes a core belief that health is a human right, and activities are carried out using a community-based approach.

What You'll Do

Roots of Health is seeking a Clinic Physician. Reporting to the HIV and Health Systems Director and HIV Program Manager, the Clinic Physician provides comprehensive, client-centered medical services, ensuring accessible, high-quality care for individuals seeking mental health, sexual and reproductive health, and general wellness consultations. The role also involves supporting program activities, coordinating with partner organizations, and contributing to community health strategies through participation in local health meetings. This is a full-time position in Puerto Princesa City with a probation period up to six months, depending on performance. Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include PhilHealth, SSS, Pagibig, health insurance, 10 paid vacation days, 10 paid sick leave days, 5 paid leave for Holy Week, and 10 days paid leave between Christmas and New Year, 1 birthday leave, and 1 paid leave for the APE. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide Clinical Consultations - Conduct mental health consultations, including assessment, basic counseling, and referral as needed. - Provide sexually transmitted infection (STI) consultations, including risk assessment, testing, treatment, and counseling. - Offer general health consultations for a wide range of medical concerns. - Support family planning consultations by providing medical advice, eligibility screening, and method-specific counseling. Diagnostic Support - Interpret laboratory test results and explain findings to clients in an understandable and supportive manner. Treatment & Dispensing - Dispense pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV prevention, including counseling on adherence and side effects. Provide clinical management of people with HIV (PWH) in accordance with national and international guidelines. Job Qualifications Education: - Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree; must be a licensed physician in the Philippines. Experience: - Preferably with at least 1–2 years of clinical experience in primary care, sexual and reproductive health, or HIV/STI management. - Experience in mental health screening or basic counseling is an advantage. Skills & Competencies: - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Ability to provide non-judgmental, inclusive, and stigma-free care. - Proficient in interpreting lab results and explaining them to clients. - Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced setting. - PhilHealth-accredited Konsulta Package provider is an advantage. - Familiarity with the Palawan context and fluency in Filipino; ability to speak Cuyonon [or any Indigenous Palawan language] is a plus. - Commitment to the values of human rights, gender equality, youth empowerment, and reproductive health.
